Mulled Melissa 🎁
Holiday festivities are here and we are loving Mulled Melissa for the perfect holiday drink. We’ve taken our pyment, Melissa, blended her with cloves, cinnamon, orange peels, a number of other spices for this new take on a holiday classic.
To make Mulled Melissa, here’s what you’ll need:
- a bottle (or two!) of Melissa - available online or at certain locations in the Austin area
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 tsp of cloves
- 2 star anise pods
- 2 cardamom pods
- 1/4 tsp all spice
- 1 whole nutmeg
- half a thumb of peeled ginger
- 1 slice of orange rind
- 1 slice of lemon rind
Directions: crush the nutmeg and cardamom pods to release the flavor. Put all ingredients, except for Melissa, in a cheese cloth. Place everything in a slow cooker or sauté pan and bring up to a steam - we recommend a crockpot so you can keep it on the warm setting. Steep for 10 minutes and serve.
