ABOUT MERIDIAN HIVE PRODUCTS:
In 2013, Meridian Hive was founded as Austin’s first modern meadery, with the idea to do things slightly differently than other traditional meaderies and honey mead brands across the country.
We took the idea of traditional fermented honey drinks (honey wine, honey beer, honey mead – whatever you may call them) and made them modern by creating unique, flavorful, low-ABV carbonated honey beverages.
This new concept took the old-school mead product which has a small but loyal fan base and turned it into a drinkable beverage for everyone to enjoy on any occasion.
Like nothing you’ve had before… All of our drinks are crisp, easy to drink, and a lil' fizzy, made with PURE HONEY and REAL FRUIT.
They are not overly sweet so you can enjoy them over time. Still not convinced?

No, some of our products like Skinny Bee are very dry, while our original products have varying levels of sweetness.
Our Original Meridian Hive flavors range from 150 to 190 calories per can. Our Skinny Bee flavors all have 100 calories per can and only 2 (cute little) carbs per can!
Nutrition information was added to all Meridian Hive can labels in Jan 2021 and can also be found on each products page.
We only use pure juice concentrates in our products. These concentrates are not extracts, or 'flavored' juice but are pure juice concentrates, made from 100% pure fruit, only the water from the fruit is evaporated
It is all natural, no added sugar, and no preservative or other additives.
Yes. All our honey alcohol products are Gluten-Free.
Honey raw & unprocessed is Paleo - our products can be included in a paleo diet as the fermentation process is a naturally occurring process that can occur in the wild. The basic concept of the paleo diet is to eat whole foods and avoid processed foods.
Pretty much all fruits are GF and Paleo-Friendly, including but not limited to; Peach, Blackberries, Lemons, Grapefruit, Cherries
The gluten in most beers comes from grains that are used in the brewing process such as barley, wheat, and rye. Hops are actually the female flower clusters of a vine and not a grain. They are therefore Gluten-Free and Paleo-Friendly.
Spices come from plants (root, bark, seed, fruit) and are Paleo-Friendly. Ginger is technically a vegetable and also on the good list.
No. Under the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission (TABC), Meridian Hive classifies as a winery and prohibits us from using any malt or grain of any kind. Therefore, our products are neither beer, nor honey beer.
No. Although we are allowed to use apples in our product, and in our early days, we did make cider.
No. But our Skinny Bee products are similar to a seltzer in that they are low-calorie, low-carb and low-alcohol.
The majority of Seltzers start with an alcohol base of fermented white sugar. Whereas we ferment pure orange blossom honey for the base alcohol for all our products.
Our products are 'Better For You'; we use only pure honey, real fruits and botanicals and avoid using "Natural Flavors" and artificial sweeteners.
Skinny Bee stands out from the pack of light beer offerings and hard seltzers. It only has 100 calories per 12oz can yet does so without using artificial flavors or sweeteners. It’s still big on flavor but contains only 2g of sugar.
No. All our drinks are made from PURE HONEY and REAL FRUIT. No additional or processed sugars and artificial flavors needed.
We are not kosher certified.
No, as honey is considered a non-vegan product. Bees are animals (fun fact: all insects are part of the animal kingdom), and honey is made by bees.
Our Meridian Hive Original products as well as our Skinny Bee products do not contain any peanut or tree nuts.
CHERRY, our Fall Seasonal Release, is made with a small amount of almond extract.
All our production equipment is cleaned and sanitized according to the FDA’s standard cleaning and sanitation regime. However, this simply ensures safe and sanitary conditions to produce our products.
If the nut allergy is mild, we suggest a simple test with your allergist’s supervision with any of our products, except Cherry.
Yes, we use Potassium Metabisulfite for freshness.
We made the decision in favor of beverage cans very consciously, as it offers an optimal ratio of environmental compatibility and benefit for the consumer. Cans are light, compact, stacked easily and can be cooled in an energy-saving way. This is also the only packaging that is absolutely impermeable to light and oxygen for our products to retain its excellent quality.
In addition, aluminum cans can be completely and infinitely recycled without any loss of quality. And they are far lower emission than heavy glass bottles in transport across the US.
Yes! And we hope you do. Our cans are aluminum and easily recyclable.
It's simple, we use premium, all-natural ingredients from our Honey to our Fruits and Botanicals, nothing is fake.
Seltzers use alcohol from processed refined sugar and artificial 'pump' flavoring, to deliver cheap alcohol.

In 2015, they asked longtime friend and colleague Cayce Rivers to lead the company. Meridian Hive has since become the leader in craft honey alcoholic beverages.

Life without bees, why should we care? There are over 4,000 species of wild bees in North America, most of those bees are pollinators, which means they help plants to reproduce. These plants are the fruits and the veggies we eat every day. From apples to strawberries, from coffee to chocolate, from almonds to tomatoes. All those plants need the bees to do their thing.
